The Venus Express is best described as a feminine Barossan blend, hence the name. A voluptuous medium body yet full flavoured and approachable wine to both entice the "I don't drink red wine" novice and delight the red wine lover.
The blend is 77% Grenache, 21% Shiraz and 2% Mataro. The Shiraz was largely from the Altona area with a little bit of Ebenezer. The soil for the Grenache vineyard is an ironstone rich red clay.
The wine has bright red colours, a touch of "redskin" confection, with cherry notes, red fruit (raspberry), black fruit along with savoury and spice and a touch of caramel. It is beautifully balanced and has a silky tannin texture.
