Tim Smith Wines Barossa Shiraz (Current Vintage)

This Shiraz is a blend of Eden Valley and Barossa Valley fruit from several carefully selected vineyards with about 70% from Eden Valley. The youngest vineyard is 20-years old with the oldest being more than 100-years old. Whilst Eden Valley is a sub-region of the Barossa Valley, to use the word "Valley" in the name means that the fruit must be sourced from more than 85% of that sub-region. So this wine is a Barossa Shiraz but not a Barossa Valley Shiraz, nor Eden Valley Shiraz.

The Barossa Valley fruit provides the "engine-room" for the palate, and the Eden Valley components provide the lifted aromatics. The wine was aged in  French oak, using mostly 500-litre puncheons to slow down the oak uptake and preserve aromatics.

The wine is beautifully balanced between the dark fruit and spice flavours and the tannins with great "mouth-feel" or texture on the palate and a long silky finish.
