Montepulciano is the second most common grape variety in Italy and is planted in central and southern Italy most notably in Abruzzo but also in the Marche region where Adele's dad's family are from. The fruit is late-ripening and often high yielding. The wines generally weighty, have low acidity and soft tannins and feel plummy in the mouth.
The Gibson Wines Discovery Road Montepulciano is deep purple-red in colour, with lovely spicy plum and bay leaf aromas and these lead to a rich chunky palate stacked with flavour and balanced nicely with acidity and tannin. A wine “for the boys” who like them big!
