On the first day of Spring 2021, I started back in the cement industry again - for the third time. An advantage is that one of the plants I manage is located in the Barossa Valley, nestled amongst some very old vines. It provides me with an opportunity to drop and visit some of my favourite wineries on my way home from work and pick up some stock.
Making wine and making cement have a fair bit in common. You start off with raw materials that reflect the geology of the region, crush them, get some chemical reactions going (fermentation vs calcination), do a lot of quality testing, blend the results, and then package the product for sale. The difference is the taste!
This collection of wines are amongst my favourites and represent fantastic value. The wines are priced at 10% below cellar door prices and the pack is delivered free of charge.
