Soul Growers 2022 "Serendipitous" Pinot Noir

Strictly speaking, this Pinot Noir is in the appellation of the Adelaide Hills region. However, the vineyard that provides the fruit for this fabulous Pinot is the northernmost vineyard in the Adelaide Hills region and sits right on the boundary with Eden Valley. Therefore we have sneaked it into our Barossa Valley wine collection.

This Pinot is soft, alluring, aromatic, gentle with a touch of earthiness. The Soul Growers accidentally stumbled across this little block of Adelaide Hills Pinot Noir, secreted away from the roadside and hidden within a gully. A chance meeting with the grower resulted in this fruit being included in the (almost) exclusive Barossa Valley Soul Growers range of wines. Just a handful of barrels were crafted -  open fermented, basket pressed and traditionally aged in very old French casks using the same winemaking process as all the other wines. Designed to be enjoyed now or with a touch more cellaring, this gem will make any gamey dish sing. Serendipity is the chance discovery of something lovely, where before there was nothing. Some accidents are just waiting to happen…

Some people find Pinot Noir a bit too thin for them, particularly if they prefer the full-bodied Shiraz and Shiraz blends of the Barossa Valley. This Pinot though has an alluring body and fabulous mouth-feel and will appeal to a much broader range.
