The Amelia is an off-dry Riesling and it is a wine that is proving to be a great hit with regular Sorby Adams customers. Amelia was the second name of Simon’s Grandmother who passed away in 2010 at the ripe old age of 103.
Pale straw with unctuous aromas of juicy white peach, lime, nectarine and yellow plum fruits literally jump from the glass. Perfumed top-notes of frangipani and orange blossom show themselves along with hints of soft spice, mandarin, pawpaw and a light waft of botrytis influence flits into view.
In the mouth with wine swells and provides plenty of texture and mouthfeel all the while kept in check by a sheath of bright, minerally acidity. Peach, yellow plum and citrus fruits make themselves known along with hints of light tropical fruits, almond paste, jasmine, dried mandarin peel, lemon curd along with lighter hints of stonefruit and citrus conserves. Great balance on the finish which is unctuous and lingering. Try the Amelia with cheese or it goes beautifully with pork dishes.
